SAILING-CLASSICS ATLANTIC TRIPS
Atlantic crossing: East – West
The so-called Barefoot Sailing Route from the Canary Islands or Cape Verde to the Caribbean.
Infinite distance and far from the excitement of our world today.
The Barefoot sailing route (Tradewind route) follows the often stable trade winds occasionally interrupted by local squalls or thunderstorms. Day-long fair weather sailing is the rule, but there were already crossings, where had to be motored because of too weak or exactly aft wind.
