SAILING-CLASSICS MEDITERRANEAN CRUISES

Italy / Adriatic Sea: Venice, Piran, Trieste

Venice is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities of the world, but oftenly suffers a lot from the tourist masses.

But you can also experience this lagoon city in a completely different, more individual and above all more peaceful way - during a sailing trip on board our 2-mast schooner KAIRÓS.

Starting point is the quiet island of Certosa, opposite the entrance to the Arsenal, named after the former Carthusian monastery, whose ruins can still be found there today. The Marina Certosa is a stop on the Vaporetto line from Marco Polo Airport - and it is only 4 stops away from St. Mark's Square.

The sailing trip begins with a drive past St. Mark's Square and through the Giuadecca Canal to the cruise terminal and the southern lagoon, which we leave at Chioggia, and then sail on to Piran, the picturesque Slovenian port city. This is - depending on weather and wind conditions - a day trip (about 6 - 10 hours).
The next afternoon - approx. 3 - 4 hours sailing - we continue to Trieste, once the most important free port of Austria-Hungary with its unique flair from the time of the imperial and royal rule monarchy. The magnificent city centre is still a hub of culture and literature today. We return to Venice via the small fishing and lagoon town of Grado with its old town, which is well worth seeing.

If the weather is not quite right, we stay longer in the lagoon of Venice and make interesting excursions to smaller islands (Torcello Burano) and nice restaurants. We also offer 3 - 4 day trial trips only in the lagoon.

You can look forward to an extraordinary mixture of culture, sailing and culinary delights as well as the special flair of this beautiful and historically so important region.
